Dunno if you've got this fixed yet, but it sounds like too much fluid in the system. Try opening the bleed port on the calliper and pushing the pistons back while it's open. Any excess fluid will come out and then finish the bleed as normal.

hi man, will weigh the wheel for you when i get home later, bear in mind it will be weighed with a tyre and tube though, i wont be taking them off

Take the bolt from a presta valve, wrap it in duct tape and insert it inside the dropout before the axle and basically, don't make it look like this " o " when you have the bike sideways, make it look like this " l " and that way the axle won't crush it completely.
